Traffic stop leads to Washington County drug bust

According to Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman, on Saturday January 19th a deputy observed a vehicle stopping in the roadway multiple times.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, the deputy observed indicators that the driver appeared to be under the influence of something. The driver consented to field sobriety test at which point he was placed under arrest for DWI.

While speaking with the female passenger, deputies received consent to search her belongings and found pills, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash inside.

A female Bristol Virginia Police Officer was requested to search the female, during the search several small baggies of methamphetamine was located on her person.

Ray Charles English, age 26, of Erwin, Tennessee was arrested and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. English was transported to the Abingdon facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority where he is being held without bond.

Cassidy Jade Horton, age 24, of Jonesborough, Tennessee was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule I or II with intent to distribute, two counts of felony possession of schedule I or II, misdemeanor possession of schedule IV and felony possession of schedule IV with intent to distribute. Horton was arrested and transported to the Abingdon facility of the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority where she is being held without bond
