King Men's Volleyball makes history with NCAA appearance
BRISTOL, Tenn. —
On Saturday night in the Student Center Complex, the King University men's volleyball team made history, winning their first Conference Carolinas Tournament title and clinching their first NCAA Tournament berth. The Tornado found out their opponent on Sunday afternoon, they will travel to take on two-time defending national champion and seventh-ranked Ohio State University on Thursday night.
Both teams enter Thursday's contest with records of 23-5 with King winning the regular season and tournament titles in Conference Carolinas while Ohio State won both titles in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA). The Buckeyes swept ninth-ranked Loyola Chicago in the MIVA championship match while the Tornado swept rival Barton College in the Conference Carolinas title.
The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday night. The winner of the contest will advance to take on University of California, Irvine in the semifinals. The semifinals are scheduled to take place at UCLA on May 3 and 5.
