UPDATE: Truex driving for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2019
Car owner Joe Gibbs is adding a second championship driver to his Toyota stable for 2019.
Reigning NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series driver Martin Truex, Jr. and Gibbs announced plans for next season on Wednesday to add a fourth car to the team that already carries 2015 champ Kyle Busch.
Truex's crew chief Cole Pearn will also make the transfer from Furniture Row Racing, which is shuttering its operation following the final race of the season this month in Homestead, Florida due to lack funding and sponsorship.
The Pearn/Truex pairing led to 17 victories for the Colorado-based speed shop.
The odd man out in Daniel Suarez, who departs Gibbs after two seasons and an Xfinity Series cup championship with Gibbs in 2016.
