The Backstretch Blog's Race Day: Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway
Today is the day NASCAR will crown it's 2018 Champion. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex, Jr and Joey Logano all have a shot to bring home a crown, the best finisher between the four is your champ. These four have probably been the top four drivers all season, so it seems only right that the champ would come from this group.
"Logano's nickname was sliced bread for a long time. I would say that Kevin, myself, and Truex -- Truex, especially, the last couple of years has certainly come into his own in being the best of the sport as well too and having fast cars and doing a good job with them," said Kyle Busch. "You've got to be the best of the best on that day. "
The group includes three guys with a title and Logano, who is seeking his first. And while he might not be considered one of the big three this season. Logano is racing as well as anyone right now.
"That's what the Playoffs are about, right? It happens in all sports," said Logano. "You got to be able to race for wins when it's most important."
Logano will roll off third out the Championship 4 drivers and fifth overall. Harvick will have the most work to do starting 12. Busch and Truex start second and third respectively.
"It's a long race; a lot happens here," said Truex. "Long runs come into play, and if you're good, you can drive pretty much from anywhere in the field."
Denny Hamlin will lead the field to the green from the pole. Brad Keselowski is the other driver in the top five, starting fourth.
The green flag will drop on the final race of the season, the Ford EcoBoost 400 at 3:03 pm. You can watch the race and the crowning of a new champion on News 5 WCYB.
