Flooding in parts of SW VA after Morning Rain

Heavy rain caused flooding in parts of Southwest Virginia Saturday morning. Flooding was reported along US-23 in Pound and in parts of Russell County and Tazewell County.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued for extreme northern Smyth county and Tazewell County. Local law enforcement reported flash flooding on Texas Street and Fairground road in Tazewell. Several other street are flooding in town of Tazewell. Full Mill branch, tributary of the North Fork of the Clinch river is out of its banks. Local law enforcement reported flash flooding near Richlands at the intersection of Route 460 and Hillcreek road. The 911 call center in Richlands reported that Kirby road is closed and impassable due to flooding.

Additional showers and storms through the weekend could lead to more isolated flooding, especially in flood prone areas.
