YOUR PHOTOS: Rime Ice and Fall Color

Pic: Chip Michel

Some low clouds and cold conditions combined Saturday night (10/20/18) to produce some fantastic Fall- or maybe more like Winter scenes across the region!

The ice on the trees is called rime ice and occurs when supercooled water droplets freeze upon contact with a surface. We see this often in the late Fall and Winter on our mountain tops.

If you've never been up on the mountain during one of these events, Austin Taylor captured some great video showing you what it's like.
